CHALMER'S CATAWBA WINE BITTERS SPRUANCE STANLEY PROPRIETORS
Thomas 144. 1872-75. The Chalmer's are considered to be one of the top western bitters among collectors today. With an embossed picture of Sutter's Old Mill, the whiskey shaped fifth allures both the western whiskey and bitters collector. The important traits to look for in this bottle is color, strength of strike and whittle. Condition is an obvious factor and this one has had a repair on the back base. The recent acquisition of a mint example allowed the owner of this one to let it go. At one time a Ken Schwartz bottle, the repair is on the back base and very hard to see. The color is terrific in a blue aqua and there is plenty of whittle for even the most discriminating collector. A nice bottle available for a fraction of a new one. Displays perfectly.
